Watch-standing officer. Second in command of the ship, position includes responsibility for oversight of all aspects of the management of the ship and its personnel, from budget planning and execution to safety of the vessel and management of the crew, as well as management of ship-based acquisitions and contracting. Unique to Brown's FY14 operating schedule: responsible for managing a 10 month international deployment with 10 foreign port calls.
